How we organize ourselves to fulfill the task Prejudice and Stereotypes
Firstly, one read the whole text sent by our tutor in a ppt file and found out that it could be addressed in two main pieces. Hence, we "separated" in two teams of four people each, and subdivided into pairs to work more comfortable. Secondly, we agreed to open a document in Drive so that every member could contribute to it and the others could see it as soon as they enter to it. One of the pairs replied to the prime twenty questions as a way to have a sort of draft to which we could all contribute to improving it. To achieve this, we maintained a fluid dialogue through WhatsApp, and after a lively debate, we formed a consensus of our opinions on the issues which allowed us to reformulate those first replies. Also, we negotiated the images that we would attach.
After that, the ppt introduced some statements about "challenging stereotypes" to which we responded by creating dialogues that showed people's stereotypical believes. As a following step, we had to analyze "prejudice in the news", and reply to some significant questions that worked as triggers of reflections that caught our interest as relevant and applicable in our profession. In the same way, we proceed with the subsequent ingenious riddle, which allowed us to sharpen our awareness of how lightly we judge and take for granted ideas that are only the product of our prejudices and stereotypes. Finally, the answers to the ultimate three questions, as well as our final reflection, emerged with ease due to the previous collaborative and cooperative deliberation that we were involved earlier. Last but not least, we want to share a video that has circulated on networks lately that illustrates very eloquently some of the prejudices and stereotypes that have been mentioned in this work.
